Denture Implants are wonderful—except for when they’re not. False teeth can indeed restore your smile and your ability to eat a variety of foods, but they don’t come without certain drawbacks. For instance, because dentures merely rest on top of your gums they can become loose. As a result, they may slip or “click” when suction is broken. Winchester dental implant dentist Dr. Radwa Sobieh can eliminate these common problems by securing your dentures to dental implants.

What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a very small titanium screw that is surgically embedded in the jaw to replace a missing tooth. With time, the implant and your jawbone integrate to create a firm footing for a tooth restoration. In the case of dentures, a designated number of implants can be strategically positioned along the jaw to secure your prosthetic device.

Retrofit Existing Dentures

If you are already a denture wearer and are generally pleased with the look of your dentures but would like them to fit better, then Dr. Radwa Sobieh will be happy to have them relined. This can often be the solution for dentures that shift and cause gum irritation.

Overdentures

Whether you have dentures already or need new dentures, either can be fabricated to attach to dental implants. For existing denture wearers,

Dr. Radwa Sobieh can simply modify your dentures so that they can be fastened to dental implants. Fittings will be added to the underside of your dentures and these will firmly grasp the dental implants. Likewise, new dentures can be fabricated with the fittings already in place.

Whether you have existing or new dentures, either is removable. Dr. Radwa Sobieh will show you how to properly attach your dentures to the implants. You will also need to remove your dentures at night for proper cleaning and soaking.

All-On-4 Dental Implants

Another alternative is All-On-4 dental implants. This implant and denture system relies on four posts to secure your dentures. The implants are somewhat smaller than traditional implants and are positioned at an angle in order to take advantage of the maximum amount of bone density in your jaw. Because these implants are smaller, a temporary set of dentures can be immediately attached. You will leave our Winchester dental office with a full set of false teeth. These will be worn while your mouth heals from the minor oral surgery of placing the implants. Once the healing process is complete, Dr. Radwa Sobieh will connect your permanent dentures to the implants. The finished result will be a smile that is secure and beautiful.
